Optical Performance Review
Conducted by Doug Martin, Chief Negotiation Officer, the focus of the Optical Performance Review is to analyze and improve the:
- Selling Systems
- Financial Systems and Sales Culture
- Merchandising
- Inventory Processes
- Marketing/Visual Displays
The review is a two day on site process. Prior to starting a review the practice is sent a detailed request for information. Prior to scheduling a review, please allow two weeks for the information gathering process. The review process begins at 8 AM on day one ideally with a one hour interview between the doctor, office manager/lead optician and Doug Martin. If patients are already scheduled, please do not reschedule them just to conduct the interview potion of the review. The review process can begin and the interview can be conducted during the doctor’s lunch. Please designate a contact person to work with Doug during the review.
During day two (subject to travel limitations) plan on a 1 to 2 hour meeting, ideally at the end of the day to hear and discuss the review’s findings. Please ask whomever you feel is appropriate to also attend this meeting.
Not all of the review can be completed during the two day practice visit. Some of the number crunching and financial analysis will be done off-site. The practice will be issued a final report and will also be given the opportunity to schedule a conference call to discuss the final report.
All of the reviews conducted in 2009 have identified cost saving opportunities equal to 1 - 6% of a practice’s Cost-of-Goods Sold expense plus incremental revenue growth opportunities equal to 10 - 30% of the practice’s 2009 revenue
and finally merchandising and visual display strategies to improve product presentation and the overall practice brand.
