Optometrists Honored for Commitment to Business Development

DALLAS, TEXAS — Four optometrists received recognition for their continued commitment to professional development at a recent meeting of Cleinman Performance Network.

Dr. Brian K. Nichols of Mt. Pleasant Eye Care Center in Mount Pleasant, Texas, celebrated his fifth year in the Network, while Dr. Christopher Olson of Complete EyeCare Center in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa; Dr. James Hutchins of Lifetime Eye Care Center in Sleepy Eye, Minn.; and Dr. Vincent McMahon of Eyeworks in Keene, NH, were honored for their 10-year anniversaries. Each doctor demonstrates a dedication to creating a healthy and beneficial work environment, as well as to maintaining a high level of patient care and satisfaction.

As members of Cleinman Performance Network, a wisdom-sharing group of peer optometrists from across North America, Drs. Nichols, Olson, Hutchins and McMahon provide valuable knowledge that highlights and contributes to the best practices in vision care and eye health.

Dr. Brian K. Nichols received his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology at Stephen F. Austin State University in 1992 and his Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Houston, College of Optometry. After practicing as an associate with Dr. J.T. Roberts in Kilgore, Gilmer and Mt. Pleasant, Dr. Nichols became the owner of Mt. Pleasant Eye Care Center in 2008. A Mt. Pleasant resident since 2001, Dr. Nichols lives with wife, Kerri, and their two children, Luke and Bethani. He is a member of the Mt. Pleasant Lions Club and Titus County Cares. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with family, hunting and fishing.

Dr. Christopher P. Olson was born in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, and grew up in the nearby village of Swedesburg. He completed his Bachelor of Science in Distributed Studies at Iowa State University in 1983 and his doctorate in Optometry at the Illinois College of Optometry in 1987. Upon receiving his doctorate, Dr. Olson and his wife, Lisa, returned to Mt. Pleasant to open Complete EyeCare Center. Among his many accomplishments, Dr. Olson served as Board Chairman for the State of Iowa’s Board of Optometry from 2006-2010, was named “Optometrist of the Year” by the Iowa Optometric Association in 2000 and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry.  His community activities include board membership on the Mt. Pleasant Public Library Board, the Kiwanis Club and The Rec Center. Dr. Olson and his wife have two daughters, Nicole and Ashley, and grandson James.

Dr. James Hutchins graduated from Luther College in 1976, and he received his Doctor of Optometry degree from the Illinois College of Optometry in 1980. He has practiced optometry in Sleepy Eye since receiving his doctorate. Dr. Hutchins is a member of the American Optometric Association and the Minnesota Optometric Association, as well as being a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry. He is board certified in ocular diagnostics and therapeutics, with special training in assessment and co-management of LASIK surgery patients. An active member of the community, Dr. Hutchins is a past president of the Jaycees, with membership in the Lions Club, Chamber of Commerce and the Sleepy Eye Community Theatre.

Dr. Vincent McMahon received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology/Pre-Med from the University of Delaware in 1972 and graduated third in his class from the New England College of Optometry in 1976. His is now a Diplomat of the American Board of Optometry and an assistant clinical professor at the Illinois and New England Colleges of Optometry. Following work at large group practice, Dr. McMahon opened Eyeworks in 1979. Dr. McMahon is married to Dr. Georgia McMahon, and they have two children, Lindsay and Ben. He is an accomplished chef, who also enjoys walking, editing video and all forms of technology.
